Nuneaton proved strong opposition for Gloucester and whilst the score card doesn’t lie it may not always reflect the whole story. At this level opportunities are scarce and when they come along you need to take them, as they will probably not come along again.
Ben Roberts came closest to winning a match for Gloucester, two games up and a match point but it was not to be as he lost in five games to Jess Birbeck. Nick Walker lost in four games to Alex Hall and yet it could easily have been so different had either of the first two close games gone the other way. The same can be said for George Evans who will look back at one match in particular and wonder ‘if only’.
That all said, Nuneaton were worthy winners on the day.
