Midland League (2009-2010 Season)

WEST MIDLANDS LEAGUE – JUNIORS - 2009/2010

Coach: Dave Gough
Team: Nick Walker, George Evans, Ben Roberts
Date: 8 Nov 2009
Result: Gloucester  1  v  Coventry  9

Life in the Midlands League shows no signs of getting any easier for the Gloucester Juniors. At least in this match they had something to show for their efforts as Ben Roberts clinched a 3 - 1 victory against Coventry's Richard Partridge, a well deserved win after coming close in two previous five game matches.

George Evans had his chance going two games up against Richard Partridge but then in the third game could not quite get over the finish line and allowed his opponent to sneak it 12 - 10. This proved the turning point and with his opponent's confidence now recovered, the game gradually went out of his reach.

Nick Walker also had chances in his match against Callum Martin, only two points separating three of the four games, but it was not meant to be.

In the doubles George Evans and Ben Roberts lost the first game despite being 10 - 7 up and from there on were never allowed back in to the match.

Credit must go to Coventry for a well deserved win and especially to Xiaoyang Ma, who's forehand at times was difficult enough for a spectator to see, never mind for an opponent to return.
