Division 1 –

Highnam ‘A’ 9
Forest Products 1

Forest Product’s chances weren’t helped by the fact they could only field 2 players on the night. Aside from this, Highnam were in dominant form, James Dance and Bob Trimble gaining maximums and Richard Maddrell won another 2.

The only point for the away side came from Rob Freeman beating Richard in 4 games. Another point could have come from the doubles match but just as it looked like Forest Products were in control being 2-0, Highnam came out from nowhere and took the match 3-2.

Week 2 Result - RSV & Friends ‘B’ 6 – 4 Rudford ‘A’

This was the newly promoted RSV’s junior’s first game of the season as their last game had to be postponed. They made a very positive start coming away with this win. Ben Roberts lead the way for the youngsters winning all 3 on the night, Nick Walker contributed with another 2. Elliot King was unlucky not to add a win, losing out to Pete in the 5th.

For Rudford, Simon Moysey was the main defence against RSV winning 2, Pete Humble and Ken Smith giving a single win each.

The doubles was a closely fought tie, Nick and Ben edging out Ken and Simon in 5 games, the match could have easily gone either way.

Division 2 –

Grange Baptist ‘A’ 5
Rudford ‘D’ 5

The honours were even in this tightly battled match. Grange Baptist’s main performer was Alistair Wood who won all his matches. Errol Johnson chipped in with another 2.

The away side’s points came from Olly Tyndall and Pete Humble, both winning 2 and another win from Trevor Seymour.

Finally, the doubles match was by Grange Baptist ending a very close match.

Highnam ‘B’ 1
Rudford ‘C’ 9

Chris Pearce and Augustin Romero were both in good form winning all 3 of their matches. Dave Pearce added another 2 well earned wins.

For Highnam, Deborah Feltham was their only point scorer. Dave Gough was very unlucky not to come away with at least a point as 2 of his games went to 5 and another he lost out 17-15 in the 4th.

Dave and Deborah teamed up to play against Chris and Dave in another tight match but just lost out to the Rudford 11-8 in the final game.

EDF Energy 2
Civil Service ‘A’ 8

Civil Service push on up to the top of division 2 after this convincing win over EDF Energy. 3 wins from Tony Williamson plus 2 wins each from Paul Singh and Barrie Pope showed impressive form.

George Evans was the only defence against the onslaught as he managed 2 good wins, one of these included a tough battle against Barrie Pope but George edged it with a 12-10 win in the 5th game.

EDF’s team of George Evans and Andy Howe were beaten in the doubles by Paul and Tony in 5 games with a variety of scores to finish.

Division 3 –

One Church ‘A’ 9
Sir Thomas Rich’s ‘A’ 1

Mark Wilding, Andy Noaks and Sherif Abdalla were in impressive form as all of them won all 3 of their matches. Mark Wilding not dropping a single game throughout the night.

STR’s consolation came from the doubles, Sam Hau and Bohan Du played against Mark and Sherif and after the home side went down 2-0 they came back in style winning the next 13-11 and the final two convincingly.

Redcliffe College 9
Phoenix ‘B’ 1

Redcliffe are setting the pace in division 3 after this dominant display. Richard Johnson and Vidas Rimkus contributed with maximums and Andy Taylor gave the home side another 2 wins.

Trevor Cox was the away side’s only win, although could have come away with another as he took Richard to a 5th game. Allan Lardner was also unlucky coming away with nothing from a 5th game with Richard as well.

Vidas and Andy took on Trevor and Allan, proving just too strong in 3 tight games.

Civil Service ‘B’ 6
RSV & Friends ‘C’ 4

Pete Dainty was the only player to win all 3. Brin Davis was RSV’s only other point.

Civil service’s Paul Daniels and Phil Lewis won 2 each and another win from Paritosh Ghadiali.

This meant it was all to play for going into the doubles and after single ‘odd’ game where Paul and Phil lost 11-1; they beat Brin and Pete in 4.

Week 2 Result - Sir Thomas Rich’s ‘A’ 1 – 9 Civil Service ‘B’

Paul Daniels and Phil Lewis were in impressive form as they both secured all the points possible. Parri Tosh chipped in with another 2 wins.

Bohan Du was STR’s only point scorer. Chris Green could have won more as 2 of his games went to 5 games. Chris and Bohan then took on Paul and Parri but were beaten in 4.

Division 4 –

Rudford ‘E’ 5
Grange Baptist ‘B’ 5

Only 2 matches had the minimum 3 games in this very tight match in which no one won all their games. Len Horwood and Nigel Emberson both won 2 and Pete Jarrett won 1 for Grange.

Rudford’s points came in the form of Stan Salisbury gathered 2. Phil Dixon and Fabrizio Trifiro contributed a further win each.

Week 2 Result – Hillview Church 7 – 3 Sir Thomas Rich’s ‘B’

David Walker was in great form winning all 3 matches and not dropping a game. Mark Birkett won 2 and Faroque Bhatia gained another point for the home side.

For STR, Harkeerit Kalsi won 2 and another win from Santos Hau added a further point.

Doubles was won by David and Faroque in 5 tight games against the away side.

Division 5 –

Rudford ‘F’ 6
Phoenix ‘C’ 4

A tight match that eventually came down to a tight doubles match to separate the sides.

For the away side, Bob Vallender won all 3 which involved a very tight 3 game match (12-10, 12-10, 11-9). Paul Brear was the only other winner for Phoenix.

Owen Berry and Liam James both won 2 for Rudford. Ben Woodliffe winning another 1 to set up a doubles to decide if this match would end in a draw or Rudford win.

Owen and Liam played against Bob and Paul. After Phoenix took the 1st two games, Rudford dug deep to come back and progressively got better through each game to take the next 3 and the match.

Phoenix ‘D’ 7
Phoenix ‘E’ 3

In the first derby of the season the spoils went to the ‘D’ side. 3 wins for Lucy Parsons and Rhys Westall. Lucy performing especially well as she didn’t lose a single game.

For the ‘E’ side, a single win each for Ali Taylor, Chris Morgan and Sam Coleby.

Jacob Elwin and Lucy paired together against Ali and Chris and won the match with a nail biting 12-10 win in the 5th game.

Week 2 Result – One Church ‘B’ 3 – 7 Sir Thomas Rich’s ‘C’

STR carried on their season with another impressive win. Steve Tatlow winning 3, Rory Murfitt with 2 more points and a final one from Filip Ilic.

Zoltan Barbely was the home sides main contributors with 2 wins and another from Marek Handzlik.

The doubles was won by One Church in 4 to finish good performance over the whole night.

Week 2 Result – Sir Thomas Rich’s ‘C’ 6 – 4 Phoenix ‘D’

There was 2 wins each for all of STR’s team; Andrew Howell, Rory Murfitt and Filip Ilic but all lost out to the same man.

Steve Parsons was unbeatable as he won all his matches whilst not losing a single game.

Rory and Filip played against Steve Parsons and Rhys Westall but were just out fought and lost in 3 tight games.
