Last year’s champions really stretched their muscles against the youngsters of RSV.

The doubles was a well contested match but the team of Pearce and Pearce came through to win against Jo Duncan and Dave.

Division 3 –
Phoenix ‘B’ 4
Redcliffe College 6
Without giving away my job too much I will hand the commentary over to Andy...
“The evening started with Matt Inman dropping the tt table on his foot. Coming to the end of the 4th game between Trevor [Cox] & Andy [Taylor] and Andy went for a shot, just avoided colliding with the corner of the TT table, lost balance, crashed into the scorers table, grazing 6 inches up his arm, bashing knee and twisting back. At the same time his bat hit the scorer, Richard [Johnson], on the top of his head and there was blood dripping all over the place. A lengthy gap while blood was mopped up and individuals sorted out. Redcliffe came out on top during the evening thanks to more than their fair share of nets and edges, especially Andy against Allan [Lardner]. Despite all the incidents it was a fun evening amongst friends.”
In between all the death defying stunts pulled between the two teams there were two wins for Matt Inman and another win for Allan Lardner.
For the away side, 2 wins for Richard Johnson, Vidas Rimkus and Andy Taylor.
Inman and Cox played against the team of Rimkus and Taylor and came through winners in 4 games.

Paul Daniels was in good form on the night as he won all 3 without losing a single game. A point each from Phil Lewis and Paritosh Ghadiali gave Civil Service the advantage.
A brace from Brin Davis and a further point apiece from Mike Gray and Pete Dainty meant it was down to doubles to settle the match.
Dainty and Gray just didn’t have enough left for the doubles against Lewis and Daniels as the away side went on to win the doubles in 4 games.
Week 10 Result - STR Seniors 3 – 7 Phoenix ‘B’
You feel that Phoenix could have taken more from this match. Three wins from Trevor Cox and a pair apiece from Matt Inman and Allan Lardner were all of Phoenix’s points.
Ian Kellie was STR’s best performer on the night as he won all of the home side’s singles points. Ian turned on the turbo against Matt in the 5th as he stormed away to win 11-1.
Cox and Lardner played against Tony Saxton and Ian. After the first 4 games were shared it could not of been closer. The home side edging out a 12-10 win in the deciding game.
Division 4 –
Highnam ‘C’ 9
STR ‘B’ 1
The night started badly for STR from the start as they could only field 2 players
Highnam still had to go and win the rest though. James Bird and Derek Pigott did just that and won all 3 plus another 2 wins from Stuart Blencowe gave Highnam their heavy win.
Harkeerit Kalsi gave STR their solitary point of the night.
Bird and Pigott claimed the doubles in 3 straight games over Stuart Carver and Kalsi.
Week 10 Result – Crypt ‘A’ 10 – 0 Grange ‘B’
A morale boosting win for Crypt as Nigel Cullis, Adam Crabbe and Josh Roberts won all of their matches.

3 wins from Dave Walker plus 2 from Ross Walker and a final point by Faroque Bhatia gave Hillview their tight win.

The doubles was the decider and perhaps made sense it was the tightest match on the night. Kalsi and Kwok took on the Walkers’. After losing a 2-0 lead the away side regained focus and went on to win the final game 11-6.
Division 5 –
Phoenix ‘E’ 4
Phoenix ‘D’ 6
There was very little to separate the two Phoenix teams. The ‘D’ sides point came in the form of two wins apiece for Lucy and Steve Parsons, Lucy looking in good form as she didn’t lose a single game.
There was a win each for the home side. Rachel Johnson, Ali Taylor and Chris Morgan all won a point.
The doubles was perhaps the toughest contest of the night. Chris and Rachel teaming up to play Jacob Elwin and Lucy, the momentum seemingly swinging from game to game but the ‘E’ side fought hard and won 11-7 in the 5th.
Phoenix ‘C’ 1
Rudford ‘F’ 9
