The doubles was one of a couple ties that went the distance but Highnam’s class showed with the team of Richard and James proving to be too much for Rudford’s Rob Deeley and Lee Bruton.

A clash near the bottom of the table ended in a stale mate. For the home side, George Evans and Andy Howe won 2 points. Both players were pushed to at least one 5th game decider and both showed composer to win.

Phoenix can see this as a good result as they fielded two players from the lower division. Trevor Cox performed outstandingly well to win 2, this was matched by Chris East and Matt Inman contributed with a further point.

Chris and Matt combined to play the doubles but were out played as George and Andy won the match in 3 straight games.

STR Seniors 5
STR ‘A’ 5

The ‘seniors’ made progress from their last result against STR ‘A’. This may be due to the absence of Dominic James plus they had to play up Harkeerit Kalsi.

Week 11 Result – STR ‘A’ 4 – 6 One Church ‘A’

You fear to think about where STR would be if it wasn’t for the class from Dominic James who, again, won all 3 of his matches.

This was not enough though as 2 wins from Sherif Abdulla, Andy Noakes and Pablo Williams.

It looked as though the doubles was another match to the away side as well but STR eventually got their game together and from nowhere came back from being 2-0 down to win 3-2.
