ESTTA Gloucestershire Junior Championships

Sunday 14th February 2010 at Cheltenham Boys College

This is a brief summery of the results. I was sorry not to be able to see all the matches played and not able to gain all the information of the other players and which schools they attend. My apologies if any Gloucester players has been missed out, I think I have named you all.

Girls U13
Jess Tegg age 8 from Dinglewell Junior School was the only entry for the Girls U11. She agreed to play up in the U13’s beating Katie Trinder from Katharine Lady Berkeleys School, but losing out to the counties number one Corrie Hart from Deer Park in Cirencester.

Girls U16
This was a close but straight set win for Beth Williams over Catherine Pollock both from Ribston.

Boys U11
Split into two groups of four, Oliver Tyndall from Meadowside in Quedgeley won two of his matches for a semi final game against James. James won and met Sam Collings (Cirencester) in the final. This was an exciting final with James winning in the 5th set.

Boys U13
A large entry for this age group was divided into four groups, which also included Ben Holman Oliver Perks and Seb Taylor (all Crypt) in their first Championship competition.
The first semi finals was a very close match between Ben Roberts (Chosen Hill) and Simon James (Crypt) going the full distance of five sets with Ben winning (from memory it was 12-10 in the 5th set). Ben went into the final against Jack Collings (Cirencester), with Jack winning and Ben becoming runner up.

Boys U16
Once again Adam Crabbe (Crypt) found himself in the same group as Dominic James (STR). Elliot King (STR) in group 2 and Chris Green (STR) in group 3. (I am not quite sure how the organisers worked the final unless I have a name wrong!!) It was a three way final between Dominic, Elliot and Jack Inkpen (Deer Park) who was also in group 2. Dominic James was the outright winner.

County Championships Cadet Division 1B
Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Gwent, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Glamorgan.
Saturday 20th February at Evesham.
Congratulations to Beth Williams who has been selected to represent Gloucestershire in this competition along with Corrie Hart, Dominic & Simon James and Jack Collings.

Well done everybody
