West Midlands League (2010-2011 Season)

WEST MIDLANDS LEAGUE – JUNIORS - 2010/2011

Team: Hamza Bham, Ben Roberts, Nick Walker
Date: 7 November 2010
Result: Coventry  4   v  Gloucester   6

Left at Mid-Day for our first fixture of the season at the Phoenix Table Tennis Club in Coventry. Not a particular long journey but forgot to factor in the early alarm call required for Hamza who was still in bed. Nevertheless, the season started off with an excellent away victory, which is even better when you consider that last season’s fixture resulted in a 9-1 home defeat.

Nick won two matches, as did Hamza who had to come through a close five game affair with Ricky Birtley. Ben contributed a further point and then combined with Hamza in the doubles to secure a win in four close games, earning what was to prove a very valuable point at the end of the day.

Richard Partridge remained undefeated for the home team although he was pushed to a fifth game in his match with Ben.

All in all a good day out was had by all, including a pit-stop at Burger King on the way back.

Away victories are rare....just wish I had taken a photo at the time!
