West Midlands League (2010-2011 Season)

WEST MIDLANDS LEAGUE – JUNIORS - 2010/2011

Team: Elliot King, Ben Roberts, Nick Walker
Date: 27 March 2011
Result: Hinckley  0   v  Gloucester   10

You cannot afford to rely too heavily on technology these days because it will let you down when you least expect it. Sat Nav decided it wasn’t going to play as we departed for Desford in Leicester and by the way…Hinckley don’t play in Hinckley!

The Gloucester Juniors have been involved in a few whitewashes over the past couple of seasons but this was the first time we were on the right side of one.

Elliot King carried the flag and lead the team in to battle, coming through two tough five game matches with Toby Goodman and Sam Jennings and producing a rare ‘Chop’ shot in the process. He then went on to win his other match against George Preston in three straight games to register his first hat-trick in the Midland League.

Ben lost his first game of the day 12 – 10 but then started playing with a confidence that ensured he was never again troubled, winning all of the remaining games he played to also register a hat-trick.

Nick decided to try and get his loop in first at the beginning of the third game of his match with Toby and then proceeded to come back from two games down to win in the fifth and also claim a hat-trick on the day.

All in all a good day out was had by all and thankfully all were asleep in the car when I took another wrong turn on the way back!
