West Midlands League (2010-2011 Season)

WEST MIDLANDS LEAGUE – JUNIORS - 2010/2011

Team: Ben Roberts, Nick Walker, Elliot King
Date: 17 April 2011
Result: Gloucester  1   v  Rugby   9

Mission Impossible or Mission Improbable, a huge challenge lay ahead for the visit of the reigning Midland League Champions Rugby. Included in the visitors midst was Matthew Outhwaite who currently stands at number 16 in the ETTA Ratings for Junior Boys in England.

Ben started off proceedings and took Matthew close in the first game losing 12 – 10 before ultimately losing in straight games. He also lost in straight games to Ryan Lines though he did clinch Gloucester’s only point of the day when he defeated Niall Herbert in four games, producing some real quality play along the way.

Nick managed to take the first game off Niall before losing the next three and unfortunately didn’t fare any better against the Rugby number one and two.

It was a tough day at the office for Elliot “Twinkle Toes” King who demonstrated some fine footwork in his final match against Matthew but despite a close first game the match drifted away as a result of some spectacular shot making from his classy opponent.

Gloucester fared no better in the doubles losing in three straight games to the Rugby pairing of Matthew and Niall.

Maybe next time....
