Gloucester Table Tennis Association recently held their annual end of the season 'Finals & Presentation' Evening.

William Dawe (Debenhams) V Darren Griffin (Optimists)
In a much-anticipated match between familiar old rivals William Dawe and Darren Griffin the expected high standard of play ensued. Darren emerged victorious in three straight games 11 – 9, 11 – 7, 11 – 9 but the quality was evident from both sides of the table. Darren has now collected this title twenty-two times having first won it at the tender age of 14!

Ladies Singles
Ann Barnes (Rudford) V Christine Williams (Debenhams)
Ann Barnes defending her title from last year won in four 11 – 9, 8 – 11, 13 – 11, 11 – 5 against the impressive Christine Williams. A nice contrast in styles made for an entertaining match in what was a close affair, particularly over the first three games. Ann Barnes then proceeded to pull away, securing the win and retaining the trophy for an impressive fourth consecutive year.

Jason Million (Debenhams) V Mariusz Plaskowicki (British Energy)
Entertaining game played in good spirits between Jason Million of this season's champions Debenhams and Mariusz Plaskowicki who has also had a very successful season with British Energy who finished top of division three. Some good rallies ensued with Mariusz always looking to attack early but it was Jason's experience that paved the way, playing a more patient style which earned him an 11 – 8, 11 – 6, 11 – 8 victory.

This was a hard match to call but the tight co-ordinated play of Ann Barnes and Jason Million proved the decisive factor as they ran out winners in three straight games on the night. The game scores of 11 – 4, 11 – 8 and 11 – 8 ultimately reflected the consistency of the winners.
