Midland Table Tennis League

Gloucester 6 v Leamington 4

Leamington Team

MARK JACKSON
EARL SWEENEY
MIKE BISHOP

Gloucester Team
MIKE KIFF
DAN KOLESNIK
WILLIAM DAWE

William Dawe was truly inspirational as he lead the way for Gloucester City in the penultimate Midland league match. All of the Leamington players are ranked on the ETTA ranking list however they were not match for Dawe won all three of his games against Leamington with style.
Mike Bishop must have thought that he was in for a win when he went two games to nil up and then was 5 – 1 up in the third set, however Dawe regained his composure and came back to win the third set at deuce and then to take the next two games with ease.

Dan Kolesnik beat Sweeney in four sets whilst he was pushed all the way to five sets against Bishop in an encounter that was won 16 – 14. These matches were a magnificent display of a very fast attacking game.

Mike Kiff although in good form was very unlucky not to take a win against Bishop in a match that he lost in four.

Kolesnik and Dawe teamed up against Bishop and Jackson for the doubles. Dawe who is considered to be one of the best tactical doubles players in the county guided Kolesnik towards another fantastic win.

Gloucester took the win beating Leamington 6 games to 4.

Gloucester has one more match for this season which is away to Birmingham. The result of this match decides who wins division one of the Midland table tennis league, currently Gloucester are in first position and Birmingham are second.

Mike Kiff
Senior City Team Captain
