Division 1
Debenhams 'A' 8 v Forest Products 'A' 2
Reigning Champions Debenhams 'A' secured a comfortable victory over Forest Products with William Dawe and Jason Million starting the season in fine form with three wins each and followed this by then pairing up to win the doubles in a five game match against Rob Freeman and Jon Gaskell.
Optimists 'B' 4 v Rudford 'A' 6
Paul Smythe was the leading performer for the Rudford team with three wins on the night and this accompanied with one win apiece for team mates Ken Smith and Simon Moysey. As Optimists Steve Greening had two wins and with one win each for Luke Groves and Alan Churchill that meant that it all came down to the doubles at the end of the evening which Rudford clinched for the win.
Debenhams 'B' 0 v Optimists 'A' 10
Optimists started the season in flawless form crushing the home team as Darren Griffin, Mike Kiff and Duncan Toon all recorded three victories each despite Alec Robinson's valiant attempt to break the stranglehold when taking Mike Kiff to a fifth game in their match. The rout was completed when Darren Griffin and Duncan Toon paired up in the doubles to win in three straight games.
Division 2
British Energy 'A' 6 v Debenhams 'C' 4
Dave Stanton led the way for the home team with three wins on the night and Chris White led the resistance for Debenhams with two wins. George Evans, Dave Moore, Barrie Pope and Tony Williamson all recorded one win each in a fairly even encounter that saw the home team ensure a triumph with victory in the doubles.
Highnam 'A' 8 v Rudford 'D' 2
James Dance started off the season with three wins and was admirably supported by Richard Maddrell and Dave Gough who both provided two wins each in what turned out to be a comfortable night against Rudford for whom Colin Brown managed to gain their two wins.
Division 3
Rudford 'E' 6 v British Energy 'C' 4
Trevor Seymour was Mr Consistency on the night winning all three matches whilst not dropping a game and this coupled with two victories from Glyn Lloyd and another from Gordon Wallace secured the win for Rudford. Squad rotation is key during a long season and the doubles brought in new ammunition in the form of the two team captains Pete Humble and Trevor Cox, a close game followed which British Energy took in the 5th 12-10.
Redcliffe 'A' 9 v Rudford 'F' 1
Redcliffe 'A' managed to gain a comfortable win over opponents Rudford 'F' with Richard Johnson and Vidas Rimkus winning all three of their matches and being well supported by team mate Andy Taylor who won two matches. Phil Dixon obtained Rudfords only win on the night.
Division 4
Optimists 'C' 6 v St. James Church 4
Optimists started off life in division 4 victorious with two wins each for Nick Walker, George Evans and Ben Roberts. On the night however they were unable to unseat Alan Page who maintained his form from last season gaining 3 convincing straight set wins and then partnering Trevor Henry to victory in the doubles.
Civil Service 'D' 4 v Sir Thomas Rich's 'B' 6
Honourable mention goes to Ed Watson for the away team who despite a close encounter with Phil Lewis came away unbeaten. He then followed this up by partnering Elliot King, who had two victories himself on his debut in division 4, to a win in the doubles despite being 2 games down which thus ensured a victory on the night.
Highnam 'B' 7 v Crypt 'A' 3
Derek Pigott started off the season with three wins for the home team and this together with two wins from Stewart Blencowe and one from Claire Bell ensured a home team victory on the night.
Sir Thomas Rich's 'A' 10 v Robinswood 0
Sir Thomas Rich's started off the season with a bang as they whitewashed Robinswood. Janie Kirby, Ian Kellie and Tony Saxton all triumphed with three wins apiece and completed the rout with a straight set victory in the doubles. Honourable mention goes to Andy Noakes who valiantly took two of his matches to a fifth game but alas to no avail on the night.
Division 5
Crypt 'D' 5 v Sir Thomas Rich's 'D' 5
Bohan Du managed 3 victories for the away team and then went on to partner Hector Palmer to victory in the doubles which meant honours were shared on the night. Two wins each went to the home teams Alan Munday and Simon Parkinson.
Sir Thomas Rich's 'C' 3 v Rudford 'G' 7
Will English, Luke Woodcliffe and Paul Russom all won two matches each along with the doubles to ensure an away victory for Rudford despite strong resistance from Chris Green who ensured maximum game time by clinching all of his victories in the fifth game of each match.
Crypt 'C' 4 v St Peters TT Club 6
Ben Hope with 3 wins and Jake Haywood with two wins, paired up to complete a straight set victory in the doubles which ensured an away win for St Peters in the opening game of their campaign. This despite stiff resistance from Mathew Skelding who managed two wins for Crypts and took Ben Hope to a fifth game.
