Weekly Reports - Week 2

Division 1

Optimists 'A' 6 v Debenhams 'A' 4
Week two brought about an early season clash of the titan's as reigning champions Debenhams 'A' travelled to Tuffley to take on Optimists 'A'. A close encounter followed with Darren Griffin and Mike Kiff winning three matches and two matches respectively for the home team and William Dawe winning two matches for the away team. This meant that the result all hinged on the doubles where Darren Griffin and Mike Kiff teamed up to win in four games against William Dawe and Matt Kittle of Debenhams.

Forest Products 'A' 7 v Rudford 'B' 3
Jon Gaskell showed how it's done for Forest Products leading the way with three wins and backed up by team mates Russell Stewart and Ian Terrett who won two matches and one match respectively. For the opposition Rob Deeley ground out two five game matches with one win for Lee Barton to earn some vital points.

Division 2

British Energy 'B' 6 v British Energy 'A' 4
In this British Energy derby match the 'B' side Edged out the 'A' side. Matthew Sproston was the leading light with 3 victories for the 'B' side with the main supporting role being played by Charles Campbell who had two wins. Although ultimately in vain, Dave McIntosh provided two wins for the 'A' side.

Division 3

British Energy 'C' 5 v Redcliffe College 5
Mariusz Plaskowicki and Trevor Cox managed to save the day for the home team despite not only being a player down but also up against the impressive form of Redcliffe College's defensive maestro Richard Johnson. Honours were shared when the home team narrowly won a close fifth game in the doubles finale of the evening.

Civil Service 'C' 5 v Wotton 'A' 5
The Civil Service doubles team of Mike Gray and Hamza Bham edged Chris East and Alan Williams of Wotton 'A' in a thrilling five game match to clinch a draw for the home team. Mike Gray of the home team and both Chris East and Alan Williams of the away team all ended the evening with two wins apiece in the singles matches.

Division 4

St. James Church 3 v Highnam 'B' 7
St James's Alan Page narrowly lost a close 5 game match to Derek Pigott of Highnam who remained undefeated on the night and this coupled with two wins each for Stewart Blencowe and Clare Bell ensured a comfortable victory for the away team.

Division 5

Rudford 'G' 9 v Crypt 'D' 1
Pete Rimmer and Paul Russom were both in fine form helping themselves to three wins each. Also on the night Phil Wallace won two matches and then paired up with Pete Rimmer to complete an emphatic victory for the home team.

Crypt 'C' 5 v Sir Thomas Rich's 'C' 5
A perfect night for Adam Crabbe of the home team who won all three of his matches was almost accomplished when teaming up with Rhys Hayward in the doubles. They narrowly lost to the away team pairing of Liam Foylan and Chris Green in a five game match which meant that honours were even on the night.

Sir Thomas Rich's 'D' 0 v Crypt 'B' 10
A player down, the home team had a night they would rather forget as Steve Parsons, Josh Roberts and Ben Tegg of the away team won all of their matches including the doubles, to ensure a resounding victory.
