Weekly Reports - Week 3

Division 1

Forest Products 3 v Optimists 'A' 7
Darren Griffin was in fine form winning all three of his matches for the away team and was well supported by Mike Kiff who also won all three of his matches but had to work considerably harder, winning two close five game matches and both by two points. Jon Gaskell, Rob Freeman and Don Sweeney all won one match each for the home team.

Debenhams 'B' 5 v Civil Service 'A' 5
John Pollard was the leading light of the evening winning all of his singles matches and even though Paul Daniels chipped in with another two wins it was not enough to seal victory for the away team. Phil Hatherall and Alec Robinson teamed up for the home team in an epic doubles match in which they snatched a thrilling five game win over their opponents to secure a draw overall.

Rudford 'A' 5 v Debenhams 'B' 5
Chris Ball won all three of his matches for the away team and then proceeded to pair up with Christine Williams and ensure the spoils were shared on the night by winning the doubles in four games. Paul Smythe and Simon Moysey won two games apiece for the home team while Ken Smith also won one match during the course of the evening.

Debenhams 'A' 8 v Rudford 'A' 2
Debenhams' William Dawe was in typical clinical form for the reigning champions as he won all three of his matches without the loss of a single game, as was Matt Kittle who also won all of his matches for the loss of just one game. Though Jason Million of Debenham's lost two close five game matches to Paul Smyth and John Davis of Rudford the final result was never in doubt.

Division 2

Rudford 'C' 7 v British Energy 'A' 3
Chris Pearce was in impressive form winning all three of his matches for the home team and was admirably supported by teammates Keith Foord and Alan Perratt who won two matches and one match each respectively. Despite Brian Cullis, Dave McIntosh and Dave Stanton all winning one match each for the away team a comfortable evening was assured when the home team clinched the doubles in the fourth game of the match.

Highnam 'A' 5 v Debenhams 'C' 5
James Dance and Dave Gough teamed up for the home team in the final match against Chris White and Tony Williamson who had both won two matches each during the course of the evening, to prevent an away team victory. This completed a perfect night personally for Highnam's James Dance who also won all three of his singles matches.

Debenhams 'C' 3 v Rudford 'C' 7
Dave Pearce, Trevor Oliver and Alan Perratt all contributed two wins each for the away team, while Chris White and Tony Williamson won two matches and one match respectively for the home team. A further victory in the doubles delivered a convincing victory for the away team on the night.

Division 3

Grange Baptist 'A' 0 v British Energy 'C' 10
Mariusz Plaskowicki, Trevor Cox and Neil Dowding were all in impressive form for the away team as they crushed an experienced Grange Baptist team at their own venue. Valiant resistance for the home team came in the shape of Alistair Wood who took two of his matches the full course but ultimately this was in vain.

Rudford 'E' 7 v Wotton 'A' 3
Star of the night was Glyn Lloyd who won all three of his matches without dropping a single game, closely followed by Gordon Wallace who also won all three of his matches for the home team. A last minute emergency meant that despite an injury, Pete Humble took his place in the line up and managed a creditable win which meant that victory was secured despite wins for Len Horwood, Chris East and the Wotton doubles team.

Civil Service 'C' 5 v Rudford 'F' 5
Leading performer on the night was Umair Ganny who won all three of his singles matches and then paired up with Mike Gray to prevent an away team victory by clinching the doubles in three straight games. Sten Salisbury and Dave Vye both notched up two victories apiece for the away team whilst Junaia Surty and Phil Dixon shared a victory each.

Division 4

Highnam 'B' 4 v Sir Thomas Rich's 'B' 6
The home team of Stewart Blencowe and Derek Pigott not only had to contend with being a player down but also with the fine form of Elliot King who won both of his matches for the away team. Despite winning four of the seven matches played on the night the three point default start proved to be too much of a handicap to claw back.

Sir Thomas Rich's 'A' 7 v St James Church 3
Two of the form players in division four met in this contest and a splendid close five game match went to Ian Kellie of the home team over Alan Page of St James Church. Kellie ended the evening with three wins and was proficiently supported with two wins apiece from Ed Watson who was playing up on the night and Janie Kirby.

Sir Thomas Rich's 'B' 3 v Optimists 'C' 7
Optimists played their first away match in division four and after coming through a close five game match with Will Lee of the home team captain Nicholas Walker lead the way with three wins on the night. This coupled with two wins from George Evans and one from Matt Inmann ensured a comfortable victory, despite a win for Abdu Afifi and two wins for Ed Watson who was playing in his second fixture of the evening.

Division 5

Rudford 'G' 7 v Crypt 'C' 3
Despite an impressive performance from Adam Crabbe who won all three of his singles matches for the away team, Rudford dominated the night with two wins each for Luke Woodcliffe, Will English and Paul Russom followed by a victory in the doubles.

St Peters 5 v Sir Thomas Rich's 'D' 5
Ben Hope and Sam Hobbs followed up their two wins apiece by teaming up in the doubles to prevent an away team victory for Sir Thomas Rich's for whom Bohan Du won his three matches convincingly with one win each for Hector Palmer and Sufyan Ghanti.

Crypt 'B' 8 v Crypt 'D' 2
Ben Tegg was in imperious form for the home team in this 'derby' match against Crypt 'D' winning all three of his matches without dropping a single game. Joshua Roberts and Ian Ewart provided strong support by each winning two of their matches while Simon Parkinson scored valuable points for the away team by clinching two narrow hard fought five game victories.
