Weekly Reports - Week 5
Just a few re-scheduled matches (Handicap Week)
Division 1
Civil Service 'A' 8 v Optimists 'B' 2
Omen's looked good for Optimists as Steve Greening won the first match of the evening, however this proved false as Civil Service provided formidable opposition. Yacoob Tily lead the way with three wins and was well supported by both Abu Saleh and John Pollard who had two wins apiece. Alan Churchill battled to clinch Optimists only other point when he took the fifth game in his match against John Pollard.
Division 2
Rudford 'D' 4 v Civil Service 'B' 6
Two wins apiece for Stewart Jones and Kim Selfe for the home team Rudford was negated by two away wins apiece for Peter Boruc and Suleman Saleh of Civil Service. This meant that Ahmed Bham's win in four games against Geoff Perratt in the first match of the evening gave Civil Service a one point lead that remained as they went in to the final match of the evening. An away victory was then secured as Civil Service clinched the doubles in four games.
Civil Service 'B' 3 v British Energy 'B' 7
Mariusz Plaskowicki 'playing up' put in an impressive performance as he followed up his three wins to partner Tony Wauchope to victory in the doubles. This combined with two wins for Mathew Sproston and one for Tony Wauchope proved enough to ensure a comfortable away victory for British Energy despite two home wins for Peter Boruc and one for Ahmed Bham.
Division 4
Sir Thomas Rich's 'A' 7 v Crypt 'A' 3
Two wins for Tony Saxton and one for Ken Morritt of the home team were neutralised by Luke and Eddie McFarland who contributed two wins and one win respectively for the away team. While Sir Thomas Rich's also took the doubles, the main ingredient in this victory for the home team was the familiar three wins for Ian Kellie, as his good form continued in this match.
