Darren Griffin has recently represented England in the International Table Tennis Team Championship of Veterans Societies, held at Tipton Sports Academy on 28th, 29th and 30th June. Darren played for England A in the Men's 40-49 years event, competing against England B and Germany.

In the first match of the event England A took on England B, with England A securing a solid 5-2 win. The second match was between England B and a very strong Germany team, with Germany winning 5-1. This meant the final match between England A and Germany would decide the gold and silver medal positions.

The England A team consisted of Darren Griffin, Adrian Pilgrim (winner of the VETTS Northern Masters in Blackpool) and Chris Clinton (winner of the VETTS Western Masters in Hereford). The Germany team consisted of Hauffe Harald, Johannes Roh and Manfred Nieswand. England A finished with a 4-2 win over Germany, sealing the gold medal. Both Darren and Adrian were unbeaten in their singles matches, with Darren beating the German team's number one 3-1, which was his first defeat in the team event.
